Welcome to my crazy life! As a mommy to 3 adorable boys my days are full of adventure and fun. I am realizing that time goes by so quickly and I don't want to forget all the cute things that the boys say and do. I hope that this blog will serve as a journal to record all those precious moments...

Logan Sick For First Time

I forgot to mention that on Saturday Colin went to a birthday party at an indoor rock climbing gym.  He had so much fun and I was really impressed with how well he did climbing.  He was really brave and made it all the way to the top on a couple different climbs.  It was a great experience for him.

Logan appears to have caught a cold from Evan.  So instead of doing the long list of errands I wanted to do today, I spent the day cuddling with him (as much as he would allow me to), wiping tears, wiping his nose and trying to get him to sleep for longer than 20 minutes at a time.  There is nothing more sad than when a baby is sick, they are so pitiful.  I hope he wakes up better tomorrow.

Broccoli!

We had another great weekend.  We went up to Nova to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday (a little early).  All my siblings, their spouses, and Mom and Dad went to a yummy french restaurant in Alexandria.  We had a great time and enjoyed having an adult night out!
While we were enjoying our dinner, Eric was babysitting Logan (who was surprisingly very good for him) and the boys went with Miranda and their Grandma to see bull riding.  They had a great time!

After Colin's church class, Dennis did a quick trip to the grocery store.  Earlier in the day Evan said he wanted broccoli.  So, when Dennis told him "I have a surprise for you that I got at the grocery store", Evan came running and said "BROCCOLI"!  Dennis took it out of the bag and showed him and Evan's eyes got big and he nodded his head!  He has always loved broccoli.  Last year for his birthday we told him we would make whatever he wanted for his birthday and his choice was broccoli!

When Colin was younger he used to make what we would call "squirrel stashes".  For example, you would lift a pillow off the couch and there would be 10 balls under it.  Or, he would put all his cars in a pile under the dining room table.  When he wasn't doing that he was lining up every car he owned or every person in a line all around the house.  It was borderline OCD.  Well, looks like he hasn't lost his desire to group things together and line them up.  Today, while Dennis was watching football and Logan and I were napping, the boys lined up all their action figures!!!!

He's Back....

After a quick trip to Target, Logan and Evan spent all day playing with each other.  They played so much that I guess they got themselves tired out because they both took extra long naps this afternoon.  I needed the extra down time because Evan was back to his active self today.  I have to admit that it was nice having him be calm for a few days.

I did take him back to the doctor though, because he still had a low grade fever.  Looks like he has an ear infection, but at least his lungs sound clear now.

Colin Takes A Tumble

Today I got the call that every parent hopes never happens.  Actually, in all honesty, when I saw on the caller ID that it was Colin's school I thought maybe Colin had caught something from Evan and was sick, so I really wasn't panicking.  Instead the nurse said "Mrs. McLaughlin, your son took a bad tumble on the playground (this is where my stomach dropped), there is blood all over his clothes and jacket and we need you to bring a new outfit and coat".  She went on to say that he was ok, but had gotten a bloody nose.

I had just put the two little ones down for a nap, so I quickly got them out of bed, put their coats on, and ran out of the house.  I didn't even realize that Evan's hair was sticking straight up until Colin's teacher asked me if it was nap time, oops!  I was walking down the hall to the clinic when Colin's class just happened to walk past me.  Colin barely acknowledged me and was a bit annoyed when the teacher asked him if he wanted to talk to me.  So, I asked if they were on their way to computer (his favorite part of Thursdays), and sure enough they were.  I guess I am already second place to computers!  Anyway, Colin is fine, supposedly he fell off the monkey bars and fell on to a kid that was running under them.   With three boys, I am still waiting for the day that I am in the ER because of a broken bone, but so far that hasn't happened, thank goodness.

In other news...Evan is slowly getting better.  The fever seems to be just about gone.  But, his cough is still there so I started up some of his nebulizer treatments.

Oh and if I thought that keeping the house clean with a newborn was hard, I now have an active, curious 9 month old.  It is much harder now!

Super Hero Logan

I continue to be amazed at how easy Logan can be most of the day.  He will just crawl over to the playroom, where he plays and plays.  He especially loves when his brothers are in there with him, but he can also entertain himself for a long time.  In many ways he is my easiest baby (though in fairness to his brothers, they were pretty easy too, with the exception of Colin's first 2 months, and my memory is pretty poor, so they may have been easier).  However, after 4:30pm or so he is probably my fussiest baby at this age.  It is very strange how he can have two totally different personalities.  Luckily, today he was pretty good all day.

I heard him cooing and laughing in the playroom while I was doing dishes and Evan was napping, so I peeked in to see what he was doing and was surprised to see him sititng in front of the boys batman castle.  He looked like such a big boy playing with a couple Super Heroes!  Just what we need another kid who loves Super Heroes!

Evan was more sick today.  He spent most of the day sleeping in bed, on the couch and even on the floor.  It takes a lot to slow him down so I know he was miserable.  It was cute to hear him say "Mommy, can I cuddle with you", because usually his hugs are so quick as he is rushing off to his next adventure.  Selfishly, I am enjoying the extra cuddles I am getting while he is sick.  However, this day was missing Evans big grins and laughter!

Poor Evan

We have been staying close to home the last couple of days.  Evan ended up with bronchitis and has been home with a pretty high fever.  He woke up in the middle of the night burning up and told me "Now I'm really sick Mommy".  He is such a trooper though, the nurse was impressed with how good he was at the doctor.  It is hard to tell how sick he is, because he often will still have an appetite and will still be pretty happy.  He is a tough cookie.  Hopefully, the rest of us can manage to avoid getting sick.

The new realtor came yesterday and the house should be going back on the market over the next day or two.  That means I need to get back in the swing of things of keeping the house spotless and clutter free, which is extremely difficult with three kids.

Happy New Year 2011!!!

We had a great New Years Eve.  As has been tradition for the last 6 years or so, our friends Mandy and Stephen came over with their two kids.  We enjoyed some good food and then put all the kids to bed.  Then, the four adults played cards and enjoyed some champagne at midnight.

Today, Dennis was productive in the morning doing a bit of yard work in preparation for the Realtor to take some photos Monday.  The rest of the day was pretty lazy watching TV, playing board games, reading, and napping.

We are looking forward to a good year and hoping 2011 brings us a sold house and a good move.  We are also looking forward to a new niece or nephew!  Holly and Pete announced at Thanksgiving they was expecting their 3rd baby and due around July 7th.  Also, Roberts son Paul is expecting his 1st baby a few days before that.  Now that they are both past their 1st trimester I can share the big news!  So many exciting things to look forward to!

The year is starting off on a good note, Logan waved good bye for the first time today!
