House Cleaning!

My parents got Dennis and I a house cleaner for the day for Christmas.  I was so excited to use the gift card!  There is nothing a new Mom needs more than for someone to either cook for the family or clean the house.  Leah and I hung out in the basement while they cleaned the house.  Dennis is in NY today and tomorrow, so that made it even nicer.  It was great to come upstairs to a clean, nice smelling home.  Of course, with 4 kids and little boys it probably won't stay clean for more than a day, but at least they got some of the deep cleaning done that I haven't had a chance to do in a long time.  Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

It also gave me more time to love up on this little girl...

Logan has been warming up to holding Leah and slowly getting less nervous.  He is starting to help me get diapers and clothes for her.

Colin's First Reconciliation.

Today was Colin's First Reconciliation.  He was a little nervous to have to speak with the priest, but when it came time to get in line he looked pretty confident.  I was so proud of him as I sat in my seat and he waved to me from the line.  Evan and I went to watch him, while Dennis stayed home with the younger two (we are trying to keep Leah home as recommended until after the flu season).

Anyway, Colin is growing up so fast!  It was a nice day and I can't wait to see him dressed up for his First Communion in April.

Evan's Future Profession and Leah's 2 Mon. Check Up

Evan had to draw a picture of what he wants to be when he grows up and explain how he can help others in this profession.  He said that he wanted to be an NFL football player and that since NFL players make "billions" of dollars, he would "give people who don't have houses my money, so they can buy a house".  I thought that was a very sweet thing to say.

So, today he had to go to school dressed up as his profession and share what he wrote with the class.  When he got home he said, "I could have also said I wanted to be a custodian, that would have been good, because custodians help people.  Without custodians schools would be very dirty". True, very true.

Tonight Colin and I went to a meeting for his first Reconciliation that will be on Saturday.  I know he is a bit nervous about confession, but the meeting was fun.  He had to decorate a paper boy and he spent a lot of time with all the details.  He still really enjoys crafts.

Leah is doing well.  She had an appointment last Friday (the 18th) for her 2 month well check up.  She was  8 lbs 3.5 oz's and 20 1/2 inches for height and 15in for head.  We were happy to see she is on the regular chart now (about 3-5 percentile for height and weight, 35% for head).  The nurse said she was on the "big girl chart".  If you correct for her being early and go by her adjusted age she is in the 50%.  Anyway, because she has been growing well, we are now down to only 1 bottle a day, yeah!!

Leah at 2 months is very sweet.  She is starting to smile, but not consistently yet and even has made a noise or two.  Her sleep at night is still sporadic.  Sometimes she will do a 4 hour stretch but other times it is still 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  She isn't a huge eater compared to the boys.  During the day she will eat than be awake for a short period and then take a nap.  And repeats this every 21/2 to 4 hours (usually every 3 hours).  She is fussy in the evenings and will eat and nap at shorter intervals, before going down for the night.

We continue to really enjoy her...

Colin 8 Year Old Well Check up.

Colin had his 8 year old well check up.  He is doing great.  She didn't tell me his percentages but he is 52lbs and 49 1/4 inches.

Colin was so embarrassed to have to strip down to his undies (I'm sure the fact we have a nice looking female pediatrician didn't help).  So, I think he felt better that the nurse gave him a gown to wear.

Happy 8th Birthday Colin!!!

I can't believe our first baby is 8 years old!!!  Colin didn't have a party this year, but he did pick to go to Dave and Busters with Dennis and Evan yesterday.  They had a blast eating lunch and playing games.

Then today after school he had his pick for dinner...mac and cheese pizza!  Those are two of his favorite foods so he figured, why not combine them!  Dennis made him the pizza and Colin couldn't have been happier.  We then had gourmet cupcakes that I had picked up and then he got to open his presents.  It was nice that so many family members sent him gifts.

Evan actually wanted to spend his own money and buy Colin a present.  He was so excited to give Colin a Bey Blade.

Colin at 8 years old is a lot of fun.  He is still fairly shy around new people and adults, but with friends he is pretty confident.  He is still competitive when it comes to sports and games.  He loves to build things with legos or cool different kinds of blocks.  He is very smart and is doing well in advanced math at school.  His reading has improved a ton this year and I believe he is reading at a 4th grade level now.  Like a lot of boys, he doesn't love doing homework and wants to get it done as quick as possible.

Colin loves to joke around.  Sometimes he is too silly, but we are working on that.  He is sneaky and loves to play hide and seek.  Colin could also be outside all day.  It doesn't matter how cold it is, he will play and play for hours.  He still goes to bed about 7:45pm and wakes up around 6:45-7am.  I think he would sleep in longer if it wasn't for his brothers waking him up.  Colin continues to need the most sleep of all the kids.  If he doesn't get a good 11+ hours of sleep he will get very cranky the next evening.

Colin is a great big brother to Leah.  He asks me all the time if he can hold her.  He hasn't volunteered to change diapers yet, though he probably would (as long as there is no poop).

Overall, he is a silly, smart, fun and active 8 year old!

Spending Time With Our Baby...

We are having so much fun with Leah.  She just keeps growing and growing.  She has smiled once or twice, but nothing regular yet.

Logan has been asking to hold her more.  He doesn't last long, after about 1-2 seconds he says, "I done".  But, it is still cute.

Leah isn't a huge fan of the swing yet, but she did manage to fall asleep briefly for the first time in it the other day.

Leah's Shots...

Leah had to go in to the doctors today to get a couple shots.  She needs to get a special shot three times (which is $1,000 each by the way) to help protect her from the respiratory virus.  Since Colin and Evan are home from school I had to bring them along.  They were both very concerned about the fact that she would have to get shots.  They kept asking if it was going to hurt.  Evan asked, "Is it safe for a preemie to get shots?"  They both told the nurse they wanted to step out of the room when she got the shots.  They couldn't bare the thought of seeing her in pain!  When they came back in, she was crying and Colin asked if he could hold and rock her.  It melted my heart to see them so concerned about her.  I have a feeling Leah will be well protected in the years to come...
