Leah's First Taste of Cereal...

I decided to try feeding Leah baby food today.  With the boys at around 4 1/2 to 5 months at the latest, they seemed ready for food.  Leah is much less of an eater.  She still often only nurses for a couple minutes so I wasn't so sure she was ready, but I also don't like the idea of introducing food too late.  I like that my boys were all on table food completely by 10 months and moved along with eating really smoothly.  So, I decided that 5 1/2 months was long enough to wait.

So, Logan and I fed her some baby cereal today.  She seemed kind of excited at first, but of course most didn't actually get swallowed.  She wore most of it.  Logan was very eager to feed her.  He grabbed the bib and the spoon for me and was excited to help.

I am having a blast with these two during the day...

Enjoying The Weather...

It was so nice today, we headed outside once the boys got home...

Colin was riding his bike and I couldn't get a good shot of him, but did get this one of him loving up on his sister.  He is always asking to hold and carry her...

Colin's First Communion

Colin had his First Communion this weekend.  The church here did a great job putting it on and it was a really nice ceremony.  The only downside was that a couple people that were hoping to make it were unable to come, so it ended up just being us.  I didn't really think anyone would make the long trip for just a weekend, so I was planning all along for it to be just us anyway.  But, the unfortunate part was that this church has the parents sit up front with their child.  Since nobody else was here to watch the kids though, Dennis had to sit separate from Colin and I and watch Logan and Leah.  Unfortunately, Leah was extremely fussy (when we got home we discovered she had a pretty high fever), so Dennis really didn't get to enjoy the ceremony or see much at all.

Evan had a T-ball game so he didn't come.  Normally, I wouldn't have had him miss it, but knowing Dennis was going to have to watch all the kids,  I went ahead and sent Evan with a neighbor to his game.  This was also the first game for Evan (since last weeks was rained out).

Anyway, it was still nice despite Leah's fussiness.  We then met back up with Evan and went out for an early dinner at Colin's pick, Cheesecake Factory.  Leah had someone Tylenol in her and was great.  She even stayed in her car seat through almost all of it and fell asleep, which is not like her at all!  It was a really nice family dinner and the boys were thrilled to end it with dessert!  Colin got a milkshake which ended up being humongous!  He probably only finished about a sixth of it.  But, it was his day and we were very proud of him!

I was a bit nervous that since we had just had Leah's baptism in Virginia, surrounded by family, and she was showered with lots of cards, gifts and money, that Colin would feel a bit sad about not having anyone here.  However, Colin was pleasantly surprised and thrilled to get so many generous cards, gifts and checks from family for his First Communion that everyone had mailed to him.  It was nice to see so many people were thinking of him on his big day and I know he appreciated it and it helped him realize what an important day it was for him.  Each time he got a card he would ask what this is for and I had to tell him that it was for his big day!

Colin Surprising Me.

Thursday, I took Logan to the book store for story and craft time.  We started back up last week, and he has been so excited to get back into it.  He is so chatty there.  He loves to speak up and answer the librarians questions.

Leah slept 7:30 pm to 5:30am last night, so that was awesome.  I wish she would stay with that, but likely tonight she will wake up between 3:30 and 4:30 again.  I'm having so much fun with my younger two during the day.

Colin surprised me the other day.  I was cleaning dishes and Logan called out from the bathroom that he needed me to wipe him.  Well, when I got there Colin was in the bathroom and he tells me he already wiped Logan.  It's amazing to be a parent.  You spend so much time wondering if you are failing as a parent and then they do something to completely amaze you and you are back to thinking maybe they are going to turn out okay after all.  What a roller coaster ride!

Dennis got back home late last night and to say we are happy he is home is a big understatement!  Unfortunately, I think Leah is coming down with a bit of a cold.  She has been fussy and not doing anything but laying there when I put her down to play.

Busy. Busy. Busy.

Dennis is out of town all this week, this time in NY again.  So, it has been crazy busy around here.  Colin and Evan both have a lot of homework this last month or so of school.  They both have projects that we are getting started on.  But, between regular homework, activities, making and eating dinner, baths, and other every day stuff, it is so hard to even get the time so sit down and do their projects.  And, since they are still young most of their homework requires me to help them with it.  I have found that homework nowadays is much more parent focused than it was when I was little.  Their projects always say, "Please help your child to...".  So, I can't just send them to their room to work on homework while I get other stuff done.

I am incredibly happy and feel lucky to be able to be home with them to help them with their homework.  I can't even imagine how working parents get it all done, and get their kids to activities and still get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Monday night was Colin's First Communion rehearsal.  A parent was required to be there with him, but since Dennis was out of town that left me in a panic.  Luckily, we found a sitter to come and watch Evan and Logan so that I could go with Colin.  I brought Leah with me to make it a little easier on her and it worked out pretty good.

Despite all the craziness, I did find time to do a few fun things with Logan...We baked muffins on Tuesday and then went for a walk to the neighborhood park.

Leah is already so much less active than then the boys were.  She just lays there peacefully.

Evan was excited to get the black stripe in Tae Kwan Do on Tuesday.

Soccer games.

Saturday, Evan's T-ball game was cancelled because the field was too wet and muddy.  Dennis took Colin to his game while I took Evan and the other kids to Evan's Tae Kwan Do class.

Colin did well in his game and scored a goal too.  He had to sit out 2 quarters as part of the rotation.  His team won.

Today, after church and church class, I was able to go to Colin's game (he had 2 games this weekend).  Colin did great, his team won 8 or 9 to zero, yikes!  Colin was able to get a score again which always makes him happy.  Dennis stayed home with the rest of the kiddos.

The rest of the weekend was just family time and running errands as usual.  The boys played outside a little despite the cool temperatures.  Tomorrow Dennis heads back out of town for the week so we enjoyed having him around this weekend.

Logan's 3 Year Well Visit.

Dennis has been out of town this week, but got home late Wednesday night.  That means I had to take all the kids to Colin's soccer practice.  Practice went well, except for Colin getting a bloody nose from someone accidentally hitting him.  A nice mother offered to hold Leah so I could help Colin out.

Thursday morning I took Logan to the bookstore for story time and craft.  We enjoyed a treat at Starbucks after.

Thursday was also Logan's 3 year check up and it went great.  He was a bit nervous about getting shots and asked me before we went in if I would hold his hand.  Lucky for him he didn't have to get any shots.  He was great for the doctor.  He answered all her questions.  He continues to be pretty outgoing.

For now, Logan seems to be my largest kid.  He was 75 percentile for height and 75 percentile for weight.

It has rained ALL week this week, it has been incredibly gloomy and sure enough Evan's T-ball practice was cancelled tonight.  But, this little girl is keeping us entertained...
